Is where the markets are in turmoil and even gurus retreat...
and oil burns at a gathering speed...
so wet are the roads that mirages hide...
and grey and black are colours of the week...

The Death of the Classic Car
Finnie, Roundie , wherefore art thou...
Beetle, Spyder, no raise of any brow...
Your span's been cut
Ten years, you're out
and the capitalist youth still don't understand why
Graceful Lines that run down your flowing curves
Streaks of chrome that give you years of mirth
Valves that take some time to warm
Surely fill the air with songs so strong
We have forgotten you cars of old
when pace beckons and time is short
we live for today...richness we have not
you still call out
forget you we must not
Beetle, Spyder, no raise of any brow...
Your span's been cut
Ten years, you're out
and the capitalist youth still don't understand why
Graceful Lines that run down your flowing curves
Streaks of chrome that give you years of mirth
Valves that take some time to warm
Surely fill the air with songs so strong
We have forgotten you cars of old
when pace beckons and time is short

you still call out
forget you we must not

Hungry Man's Cry
Voted the best city for nightlife...yet when you're hungry and looking for something decent to eat after 10pm, there's really nothing but the same old places...and coffeeshops in the heartlands...
It upsets me that all Food and Beverage establishments have a last order deadline, usually at 10pm, and most close at 1030 or 11pm. Even five star hotels that used to operate the lobby coffee houses round the clock have all but ceased the tradition...
Really, you can list the places where any decent food can be found past 10pm and it won't be too long...
1. Geylang, the late night food capital
2.. Balestier Road BKT, that River Valley Stretch where double diagonal zig zag no parking lines prevail
3. 24 hour Food Courts
4. Coffeeshops wher the main staple is beer rather than good food...
5. erm...
Even the most famous Chatterbox did not operate 24 hours before their recent revamp, and guess what... the variety on the present "supper menu" leaves much to be desired...
Which leaves poor me with no choice but to hunt and to hunt for the tastiest of morsels every night. The same routine usually bores but hey, I've been eating out so much that I can list the tastiest food places still open after your typical family goes to bed and the friskier ones come out.
Astons for Rib Eye, Wagyu, and special indent beef done wonderfully well with the skill of a honed culinary...they're at East Coast Road, just near the Joo Chiat Road junction and across the road from Katong Mall. The best steak you can find at this hour without a doubt...and sure beats the **** out of the established steak houses.
Madame Low's along the red and blues of Joo Chiat Road, the best Hor Fun in the land, and surrounded by sproutings of Vietnamese food outlets that have sprung out to pander to the tastes of the natives in the precinct...
Opens till like midnight or just past depending on the crowd
I shan't mention more cos the rest are relly mediocre and just sad excuses to make money by serving really sad food.
See that's why I hate the foodie scene here. Really nothing good past 10 and nobody dares or wants to be different, every other place serves small and stingy servings, there's just no extravagance in the variety and quantity or quality...just to stinge on the midnight surcharges for taxi fare for staff, just to save on paying overtime pay, the food bosses simply throw away passion for the creed of cost control...
That is what is missing in the food industry...PASSION, the courage to try, and the will to be something special. Guess it is the same in any thing you do in this land...it's inculcated, it's the sociological anthropology...it is our destiny our fate, our life... Our Singapore.
If you are a proprietor and want some business consultancy ideas, buzz me. It is just sad that there is a shortage of good ideas and pure simple passion.
There is no good tasty food in this land after ten
It's just no good... Why can't I find Tasty Food
Just the same old pieces of eight
same old faces same old places
the anorexics will surely be dead...

Retro Blue
A new beginning...Avant Coureur they say...perhaps it is the lure of old friends who used to graffitti on plain paper to send via tuition class courier to girls from that sister school...perhaps the fear of the loss of literary skill...perhaps just a forum to maintain the subconcious yearning... thus the first post was created.
